YouTube Shorts download API — MP4 from a Shorts link
A Short is a normal video under a different URL. /v1/youtube/info accepts the shorts/ link directly, marks it with is_short: true and lists the same 144p–1080p renditions with exact sizes; /v1/youtube/create builds the one you pick.
Example request
curl -s "https://api.saveapi.org/v1/youtube/info" \ -H "Authorization: Bearer sk_live_xxxx" \ -G --data-urlencode "url=https://www.youtube.com/shorts/abc123"
2 credits
Accepted link shapes
youtube.com/shorts/<id>, with or without a ?si= or ?feature= share parameter, and the same video by its watch?v= or youtu.be form. Detection reads the ID; you do not have to rewrite the link.
What comes back
info answers with title, author, duration_str, thumbnail, is_short: true and formats[] — one row per quality with file_size in bytes and exact: true. Shorts are vertical, so the pixel height in the quality label is the long side of the frame: a 1080p Short is 1080 wide and 1920 tall.
Picking a quality for a bot
A Short is under a minute, so even 1080p usually stays inside a Telegram bot's 50 MB upload limit — check file_size anyway and step down when it does not fit. There is no limit_mb parameter here; the sizes are exact, so the choice is yours.
Questions before you build
- Is a Short cheaper than a full video?
- No — the same 2 credits for info and 10 for create. Length does not change the price.
- Can I get the Short without its audio track?
- No. The rendition is a muxed MP4 with video and audio. For audio only, ask for quality=m4a or quality=mp3.
- How long does the link stay valid?
- Until the expires timestamp in the response; afterwards it answers 410 and you call create again. Fetch the file when you resolve it rather than storing the link.
