Instagram carousel download API — every photo and video in a post
A carousel is the shape most downloaders get wrong: they return the first item and stop. Here every item in the post comes back as its own entry in medias[], in the order the author placed them, each with its own type — a post with two photos and a clip yields two image entries and one video entry. The price is per post, not per item.
Example request
curl -s "https://api.saveapi.org/v1/instagram" \ -H "Authorization: Bearer sk_live_xxxx" \ -G --data-urlencode "url=https://www.instagram.com/p/ABC123/"
1.5 credits
Accepted link shapes
instagram.com/p/<code>/ is the carousel link. The same endpoint also accepts reel and story links, so you do not need to know in advance whether a post is a carousel — the response tells you.
What comes back
type is "album" when the post has more than one item, medias[] lists every item in post order, and each entry carries its own type: "image" or "video". A carousel of eight photos gives eight image entries. meta holds the caption and author once for the post.
What it costs
1.5 credits per post, however many items it contains. Private and deleted posts cost 0.1 and come back with a final code; a partial carousel is not something the endpoint returns — you get all items or an error.
Questions before you build
- Is each item billed separately?
- No. One resolve is 1.5 credits whether the post holds one item or ten.
- How do I know which entries are videos?
- Every entry in medias[] has a type field. Branch on it rather than on position — mixed carousels keep the author's order.
- Can I get just one item of a carousel?
- The response always contains all items; pick the one you need client-side. There is no per-item parameter.
