Do pin.it short links work?

Yes. The shortener is expanded for you, so you can pass the link exactly as Pinterest's share button produced it.

What about the country domains?

pinterest.ru, pinterest.co.uk, pinterest.de and about twenty more are all normalised to the same lookup. You do not have to detect the user's locale.

Can I fetch a whole board?

No. This endpoint resolves a single pin. A board is a collection page, not a post, and there is nothing to return for it.

Pinterest Downloader API

Pins resolve to the video where there is one and to the full-size image otherwise. Pinterest runs dozens of country domains and the pin.it shortener; every one of them is normalised before the lookup, so you can pass whatever the user pasted.
